How To Treat Fever And Sore Throat?

Gud day to you. I have a 10 year old patient weighing 59 kg. He is presently confined in the hispital. Admitted for 1 week fever, srethroat and headache. Typhidot + for igg, wbc 18. On day 4 of ceftriaxone still having fever but no more headache and apparently feeling better. Phlebitis noted yesterday. What else can i do to my patient.

Hello,
i can understand your concern. since you have mentioned typhidot +ve for IgG, it shows a remote infection. i would assume wbc 18 as 18000 cells/cmm. this definitely indicates bacterial infection. i would suggest a detailed widal test for typhoid, which would qualitatively and quantitatively show the typhoid infection. continue giving ceftriaxone twice daily. for thrombophlebitis kindly give thrombophobe ointment for local application and cold compreses over the area. repeat the cbp after two days to know the status of the wbc count.since the patient is showing clinical improvement no further antibiotics are required for now. thanks for choosing hcm.
