How To Treat Fluctuations In BP Level While Suffering From Gestational Hypertension?
Hi I am 29 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with gestational hypertension BP of 160/95 So i take my blood pressure regularly at home to keep an eye on it. My first few readings today were good 120/90 to 131/80 then I got one that read 103/62 with a BPM of 102 . So my first question is , is it normal with pregnancy hypertension to have good blood pressure one day and high the next. And how can I have high and low blood pressure or could there be something wrong with my blood pressure cuff? It s a battery one that goes on the wrist.
As per my clinical experience, a blood pressure in range of 160/95 mmHg is not normal and stamped as gestational hypertension by definition. This condition requires medical therapy with methyldopa, Labetalol or other medications as per the clinician choice.
* Additional help from: - Salt restricted diet - Regular meditations and YOGA - Walking in fresh air - Avoidance of stress and anxiety There can be malfunction of BP instrument in some cases, which require fixation with its expert.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
