How To Treat Growing Leg Pain In A Child?

My four year old son tested positive for strep and is currently being treated for strep throat, although he never once complained about his throat, but was sick with cough and fever for three days. Now he is complaining of extreme leg pain, he has always had what I call "growing pains" at night, but today he was crying and actually limping and unable to walk right. It did not stop him from playing, but he did complain all day and into the night when I put him in bed. can strep have this affect?.
