How To Treat Hernia Above The Naval Area Causing Dull To Sharp Pain?

I m a female age 40. I have a hernia above my naval that is causing me dull to sharp pain serveal times though out the month, it only really worries me once a month around my mentral cycle. I m not sure if it caused by bloating or is my hernia getting bigger? Im afaird to get it fix I have been told that it could come back bigger in the same area or another area is this true ? Who should i go see my Primiry Care Physican or a Gastrologist?

Hello,

You can initially follow up with your primary provider to get the hernia checked. To see whether the hernia is increasing in size, any possibility of strangulation and necessary imaging studies done. Your primary provider can refer to the surgeon if surgical correction is warranted.
