How To Treat Infection Of Toe Nail Causing Pus Discharge After Accidental Strike?
hi my little 4 yr old stubbed his baby toe the other night then last night i noticed his toe was full of puss i did manage to get all the puss out but still a little bit there couldnt get and had to cut his toenail now he only has a little bit of a toenail left should i take him to see our family doctor or should i just keep cleaning it myself will the infection go away if i do that?
Hello dear user of HCM! Thank you for the question!
The infection and the puss produced under the nail has leaked itself. Usually it is self healed and there is no need to remove the nail manually. It will fall down when the time comes.
Just keep a good hygiene of the toe, clean it with oxygenated water and disinfect with povidone iodine.
Don't put any bandage on the toe, just keep it open.
If you remark any worsening with his toe go to your primary doctor to see if any medical measure is needed.
Take care and all the best for you! Best regards! DR ERIOL.
