i am experiencing an inflammation on the roof of my mouth for the last few days. I eat well and exercise, It is uncomfortable and I feel a little fluish. I do not have inflammation in my blood tests C reactive protein is .03 . More to say but that is the main complaint. Thanks. Aleah
As per query there is inflammation on the roof of the mouth . There can be two possibilities for this .
First the inflammation can be a mucocele . Normally, saliva drains from the glands to the mouth, but when the ducts are obstructed, saliva gets stuck inside where it pools and creates a bump . Mucoceles often go away without treatment. If they don't, possible non-surgical treatments to alleviate swelling include steroid injections and topical medications. Surgical removal is also one of the option .
Secondly it can be a torus palatinus . A torus palatinus is a bony protrusion on the palate (roof) of mouth. It i harmless , but if it interfere in normal functioning of oral cavity the it needs surgical correction .
I would suggest you to consult oral surgeon for proper diagnosis and to find out exact cause .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Dr. Harry Maheshwari
