How To Treat Intense Calf Muscle Pain Caused After A Muscle Strain?
I was warming up before playing basketball, just dribbling ball at medium speed making zig zags when all of a sudden I felt my calf muscle pop and then I could not walk pain was severe. The next day no swelling or bruising, but it was extremely painful especially when I would push of with my toe to walk. Day 3 no brusing, but there is a little swelling in ankle. The meat of the calf muscle is really tight tender and sore.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. For calf muscle strain you can do RICE regimen. Rest from hard physical activity , ice pack application on and off for 15 minutes 3 to 4 times daily , applying elastic bandage and elevate the legs up while sleeping or sitting. Taking NSAIDs like Ibuprofen also is helpful. If still no pain relief then muscle relaxants like tizanidine will be needed. You can consult your GP for this. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
