yes, yesterday I got dizziness and fainted. I was brought to the ER. My blood pressure was erratic. down to 87/53 the in seconds up to 176/145. the stood me up took my blood pressure, laid me down and had sit up. taking by BP. They said I had Orthostatic hypotension. what causes this?
Thanks for the query. There is a big list of causes of orthostatic hypotension, but the most common causes in real practice are hypovolemia due to dehydration or bleeding, medication side effects such as diuretics, nitrates and practically any anti-hypertensive medication and neuropathy from long standing diabetes. Other more rare causes include degenerative neurologic diseases such as advanced Parkinson's disease.
