How To Treat Painful Shingles On Left Side Of Forehead And Scalp?

I am recovering from a case of shingles located on the left sidw of my forehead and scalp. I received anti viral medication within 36 hours of the onset of the rash, and 48 hours of the onset of the pain. The initial onset of the pain began 8 dqys ago. The rash never presented too much blistering and some of the rash has darkened and there are now some small scabs appearing. I did have to see an eye doctor due to the swelling of my eyelid. Only problem there was a dry spot on the eyeball for which my eye doctor recommended moisturizing eye drops 4X per day. I believe that I have a very mild case even though the head pain has been most unpleasant. My question is: How much longer does the virus usually last when treated early with anti viral meds? Does it have a typical lenth of duration? Thank you very much for your time. Katherine R
