Psoriasis is a disease which requires medication for many months. But it can be kept under control if you use medicines properly.
If your white patches are few you can use a topical treatment like Halovate and salicylic acid combination along with a moisturizer.
If your lesions are extensive you have to go for oral drugs like methotrexate and apremilast but you should consult a doctor and get routine investigations done before using these medicines.
You can also go for nbuvb and puva for psoriasis. please note that it's not a contagious disease.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
