Hi , my baby is 2 and a half months old. We went to see a doctor 2 weeks back and he said she had a chest infection , after treating it , it came right but a few days later her cough started and this time it s really bad .her cough is like every second and she s not having a break at all.i tried nebulising her with duolin nebs, but the cough is still there please advice me on what to do.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child has recurring chest infection which could be due to lung infection/ bronchitis/ tuberculosis. I would suggest you not to ignore it at all as cough persisting more than 5 weeks is an alarming signal. I suggest to consult a pediatrician as soon as possible to find the right cause of this and get chest x-ray done. Go for pulmonary function tests of child as well. Till then give child steam inhalation. Give cough expectorants. give plenty of fluids to kid along with multivitamin tablets. Use mist humidifiers in child's room. Take decongestants and mucolytic agents. You should give anti inflammatory medication such as Levocetrizine.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
