on consultation it was informed that the retina has become very thin and at one point in the periphery of right eye, there is a tear. I was advised to undergo barrage laser treatment. kindly explain why this has happened, what is the correct treatment and what precautions i should take
Hello It seems from the history that you are diagnosed with retinal tear. Retinal tear occurs because of injury or because of thinning of retina as in high myopia or ageing. The treatment is by retinal laser to create a barrage around the retina and prevent extension there by preventing development of retinal detachment. Since you are having retinal tear you should prevent injuries to eye.
Thank you
