How To Treat Scalp Psoriasis And Hair Loss?

I m having a bad flare up of scalp psoriasis, but also suffering hair loss, which I assume is because I take folk tradition 20mg for my psoriatic arthritis. Just wondering if I can apply sumo some m on my scalp, or will it worsen my hair loss? How do I prevent further hair fall? Thanks.

Hi,

Topical corticosteroids or Calcipotriene, a strong derivative of vitamin D can be used. Another option is excimer laser focuses high-intensity light on affected areas avoiding healthy skin. Ultraviolet (UV) light delivered with a hand-held device UV comb can be used to treat the entire scalp.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
