Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain pain after the
root canal treatment is initiated can be due to either of the reasons:
1. If any canal is missed out and the nerves are present in it which gets irritated and cause
severe pain..
2. If there was an abscess and the pus is still present and when the tooth is sealed using a temporary filling the pus creates pressure on the nerve fibres present below the root apex and causes severe pain..
If there is a temporary filling done to relieve pain you can remove it with a toothpick gently and put a piece of sterile cotton ball so that the pressure is relieved and pain will reduce and immediately consult your
dentist so that he can do the possible treatment to relieve pain..
Also ask your dentist to disocclude the tooth so that it does not come in contact with the opposite tooth and pain is prevented..
Avoid chewing from that side..
You should continue to take
amoxicillin but in place of
Panadol or ponstan you can take a higher painkiller like
Tramadol 5O mg three times a day or
Ketorol DT every six hourly [one tablet dissolved in half glass of water].
Do not get the final filling of the tooth done until the pain completely subsides.
Hope this information helps..
