How To Treat Sharp Foot Pain Radiating Towards Knee Caused After Injury?

I twisted my foot, first it hurt on the inside of my ankle, with burning pain shooting up from my ankle towards my knee. Now I have hurt it again, my toes and the bottom of my foot aches, and I have tremendous pain around the outside side of my ankle. I have a heating pad on it and a pillow under my foot and lower leg. I have arthritis and take NORCO and ALEVE for it.Is there anything else you can do for the pain in foot?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have foot pain radiating towards knee caused after injury . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like fracture trauma to soft tissue like tendon or ligament tear . The symptoms can also occur due to sciatica or arthritis. I would suggest you to avoid walking and give proper rest to foot , apply warm compresses to foot and take ibuprofen for acetaminophen for pain . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray or CT scan along with physical examination like movement . Doctor may give plaster and fix the foot , prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory along with vitamin supplement for quick recovery .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
