hi doctor, i am pregnant and right now in the beginning of my 8th month. I caught a cold yesterday and it was a kind of sore in my throat. I could get relief after gargling warm salt water and steam inhallation. But today i am finding that its getting a bit worse and causing a kind of mild wheezing. I wanted to know if it is okay to use one or two puffs of the aerocort inhaler which was given to sometime back for some allergy when i was not carrying, in case of an emergency at night like if I coild not fall asleep.
I have gone through your problem history. It seems you have developed throat infection and it needs to be treated promptly and effectively. Please continue the warm salt water gargles. However, since the condition is getting worsened, you will have to control the infection by some antibiotics. I would not advice you to take any antibiotics of your own. There are some antibiotics which are harmful for the baby inside the womb. So consult your obstetrician before starting the antibiotics. Please avoid any chilled or cold food like soda, ice-cream etc. Drink hot soup, hot milk with turmeric powder and ginger. This will help you to some extent symptomatically.
