How To Treat Sore Throat Leading To Swelling?

Hi, I have had a very sore throat for about 4 days now. I can barely drink, sleep, eat, or even talk. My throat is very swollen, to the point where every time I swallow it feels like a thousand cuts. I have went to the doctor a few days ago and they told me it was just an infection that will go away. ( I have had infections before and they weren t half as bad as what I m feeling now) My arms are starting to swell up and I ve been very weak. It seems like it s just getting worse.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the infection may be bacterial and not viral.

Though viral throat infection is more common, if the pain is still severe after 4 days, bacterial infection may need to be considered.

You may need a course of antibiotics.

It may be best to visit your doctor for an assessment.

I hope this helps
