How To Treat Spasms In Chest And Breathlessness While Treating Upper Respiratory Infection?
I am getting over an upper respiratory illness (this is day 7) and have started feeling like my lungs and throat are "stuck together" or spasming making it very difficult to breathe in. Cough is barky and non productive. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?
- Take steam twice a day and do warm saline gargles.
- Avoid use of sharp and spicy food substances.
- Avoid cold carbonated beverages.
- Take steam inhalation along with cough expectorants as well.
Your symptoms will resolve in 1-2 weeks. if symptoms keeps on persisting you should consult ENT specialist and take proper treatment. You should get blood test done along with X-ray chest done and pulmonary function tests. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin for at least for 5 days along with decongestant.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
