Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had cataract surgery 5 days ago and yesterday noticed redness on the lid of the eye. Today it looks like a stye has formed on the eyelid. I have a follow up appointment in three days, but should I call to see the doctor sooner. I am taking prednsione, ilverno and ciprofloaxin
Swelling in the lid can be due to stye but it can also be due to some infection in the eye related to eye surgery. I advice you to consult your doctor immediately especially if you also experience any decrease in vision. Meanwhile you take oral painkiller like Combiflam and do hot fomentation to get some immediate relief. You can apply Ciprofloxacin eye ointment three times on the lid margin.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saurabh Mittal, Ophthalmologist
