How To Treat Swelling And Redness In Foot Caused After Injury?
My partner kicked a wall very hard about 4 days ago, his foot and leg up to his knee have more than doubled in size with swelling, his skin is very bruised, bright red and hot to touch and he can hardly walk. He has been using hot and cold treatment on his foot and trying to keep it elevated but the pain is unbearable when he does this... Any suggestions?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling and redness in foot caused after injury . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like fracture trauma to soft tissue like tendon or ligament tear . I would suggest you to avoid walking and give proper rest to foot , apply ice pack and take ibuprofen for acetaminophen for pain . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray or CT scan along with physical examination like movement . Doctor may give plaster and fix the foot , prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory along with vitamin supplement for quick recovery . Keep your foot elevated.
