How To Treat Swelling And Tenderness On Ankle Caused After Injury?
I twisted my ankle at work last summer. I just treated it with aleeve and continued on. It seemed to heal OK, but every time I would walk on a slope or climb in and out of equipment a little tenderness and swelling would come back for a day or two. With my construction season over, I have been off work for a couple months. My ankle seems to be bothering me more and more. The swelling is getting worse and things like climbing stairs are causing a flare up.

Painful swelling and tenderness over ankle by ankle twisting could be due to soft tissue injury or hairline fracture over the bone itself despite you think that it got healed with the aleeve treatment.
But it needs to be evaluated further by clinical examination and some tests like blood haemogram and X-ray of the affected part to rule out infection and fracture.
As you said about swelling and tenderness while you walk on a slope or climb which is a indication for further examination of this joint as said above.
You can apply ice pack application with over the counter pain killers like diclofenac, anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen and antacids (pantoprazole) which are available over the counter for symptomatic relief.
If you had pain and swelling since long time then I would advice you to go for X-ray scan first to detect the exact cause or if x-ray is inconclusive then go for MRI scan.
Consult orthopedic doctor for thoroughly check up and complete treatment.It would also be convenient for you to consult since you are off work for a couple of months.
