1. since there is leucopenia [reduced WBC count] thus
neutropenia [the most abundant white blood cell] are reduced, since the
neutrophil count is the most important indicator of infection risk.
2. since you caught virus from your son [person to person] thus probably could be cold or
influenza virus [unless proved otherwise], please check with your attending Doctor with Chest x-ray for any lung pathology [pneumonia/ tuberculosis]
3. most fever encountered in general practice are viral, self limiting and requires only symptomatic treatment but before labeling a fever as viral one must look for [as a compulsory routine] pallor, jaundice, neck
stiffness, abdomen for liver and spleen [severe weakness/loss of appetite= hepatitis], and auscultate the chest with necessary examination and investigation
4. and since you are getting sicker day by day
blood culture should be done and prophylactic antibiotic therapy may be started and
oral hygiene should be properly maintained and some of the general guidelines should be followed by everyone at home, like
i. bed rest.
ii. keeping minimum close contact with an ill person
iii. wear a mask, covering of mouth while coughing/sneezing can greatly reduce transmission.
iv. practice good hand washing can decrease spread of droplet infection i.e.to prevent hand contact with secretions.
5. since urine culture came sterile [ <3
leucocytes are normal, whereas skin cells indicate the site of origin and are not of much significance] look for other causes of the same. The Doctor has to find the cause of the fever by evaluating the associated symptoms.
