How To Withdraw From Aripiprazole And Desvenlafaxine?
I have been taking aripiprazole and desvenlafaxine for many years. I don t feel as though I need them anymore. I m thinking of going cold turkey. My guess is that is not wise? My major issue with the medication is that I beleive it has caused me to gain weight and become socially dull. Thoughts?
You have not mentioned why you were prescribed Aripiprazole and Desvenlafaxine drugs. Aripiprazole is given to treat bipolar disorders while Desvenlafaxine is an antidepressant.
You have mentioned that you are on these drugs since many years. It is not available to stop these drugs suddenly as you may go into a severe relapse after which your doses may have to be increased to stabilize you again.
So, this is not a good idea to stop medications without your psychiatrist’s advice. You should discuss this with your psychiatrist and if he thinks you don't need medications, he may taper down your doses slowly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma Amman
