Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For about a month and a half now I ve been taking klonopin. At first I was taking 0.25 mg as needed but the last 2-3 weeks I ve needed to take 0.50 every evening. I need to stop them and my question is since I ve been taking such little dose for such a small period of time do I have to worry about the serious withdrawal effects like seizure? I m sure I can deal with other withdrawal effects but what makes me not want to stop taking them is the seizures.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Klonopin is Clonozepam and withdrawal effects are not significant when compared to older congener like Diazepam.
You can gradually stop the drugs. No seizures or serious withdrawal symptoms are reported.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
