My gyno has me on norethin ace 5mg 2 pills at nite for heavy periods. I m 48 and pre menopause. Been on it 2 months and have high blood pressure have noticed it getting higher. At work yesterday it got to 200/80. Should i stop it and how long will it take to leave my system.

Hi, Thanks for asking. I understand your concern. Noretisterone is a hormonal contraceptive ... it needs to be taken cyclically... to take it daily foe prolonged time is not usually advised. You have not mentioned about the cause of bleeding... The withdrawal of bleeding is indicated but pssibility of bleeding after ir (withdrawal bleeding )should be safe guarded according to cause. Mostly bleeding would start within 8 days of stopping the pills... &incase it is profuse.. it can be managed well with needful medicine acoording to basic cause of bleeding.(can be cyclical contraceptive/medicines to stop bleeding like cvp gynae /surgery... miner or histerectomy as per need. Please discuss it with your treating gynecologist. Thanks.
