Hysterectomy Done. Pain During Intercourse, Organs Came Out. What Is The Frequency Of The Problem And Reason?

I was 2 1/2 months post op. Cleared to go back to work ect. Hyster. on April 16th, 2013. On July 5 th, 2013 , I started to have my first intimate encounter- stopped him right away because it was painful. Started to bleed. Was spotting the next day- July 6th. Went to work- was in the bathroom- having a bowel movement- when all of a sudden my organs started dropping completely out of my body- I called for help- 911- EMS rushed me in, took 2 Surgeons to put me back together- my bladder & bowels and I do not know what else had completely come out- Very severe & trauma- Doctor said it was very rare & I could have died. At the same time- the surgeon that had done the original hysterectomy said it was all my fault- because I had not worn my setogen patch as fatithful as I should and that this can happen cause I was in menopause and it takes longer for the body to heal. Many others that have had hyster. tell me this just does not happen. Please help me understand if I am really to blame here- or if there is a possibilty that something surgically was not done right on April 16th.
My whole life is on hold as now they tell me it will take 6 months to a year to heal all my organs. I am a single Mom here- and not able to work- I am being told to seek legal council on this matter- what do you think about all this. I need a Doctors advice on how many times this has actually happened to someone ect. Thank You so much.

Hello and welcome to HCM,

How was the hystrectomy performed?
Was it done by abdominal route or by vaginal route.
If the hystrectomy was performed by vaginal route, an injury to the perineal body can weaken the pelvic floor .
Perineal body is a muscular structure to which is attached all the muscles of the pelvis.
Pelvic floor is made up of muscles which support the pelvic organs.
Perineal body is damaged during child birth or during some operative procedure.
However, damage to the perineal body or weakening of pelvic muscles usually leads to prolapse of vagina, cervix and lower part of the uterus.
Prolapse of bladder and intestine is a rare occurrence.
Loss of muscle tone that occurs during menopause is due to fall in levels of estrogen in the blood.
Setogen patch is an estrogen preparation.
Using setogen patch will definitely improve the strength of the muscles of pelvic floor and improve the health of other genital organs.
At this point of time, the priority is to get back your organs right in place and allow sufficient time for the organs and the wound (if any) to heal.
avoid sexual contact or trauma to the genital region.
Regarding the legal issues, it is better to consult a lawyer.
However, this can happen however, not very commonly.

Thanks and take care
