Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 71 year old male. I was cutting up styrofoam and some small particles were going into the air and I think I may have swallowed some because I started to gag and could not get my breath. I felt like I had a something in my throat that I couldn't bring up. I did panic, had some water and in a couple of minutes the problem stopped. My wife had called the ambulance and the emts checked me out and my oxygen level was high (97 %) and lungs were clear. Since I felt good I declined going to the hospital. I do have heart disease, bit I don't think this was a coincidence as it happened right after I cut the styrofoam. Could this have been the cause of my chocking sensation?
