I Am Having A Reaction To Vicryl Stitches On My

I am having a reaction to vicryl stitches on my face from a suspected melanoma removal. It is red and swollen and tender to the touch. Feels like there is fluid underneath my skin. I have been applying warm compresses to it 2x daily and it has been 2 months since my surgery. Will it go away on its own or should I contact my dermatologist to "nick it" as she put it?
