I Am Pretty Worried About My New Foetus, Please Suggest Me

Hi, I am aptient of hypothyroidism. Now I have conceived. I have heard that the child can get affected by this. I don't want to take risk. Should I chech my throid and then should plan for pregnancy ? What do you suggest ? In my family there is a history of mental illness. I am pretty worried about my new foetus. Please suggest....

Hi... Congrats on becoming mom... Hypothyroidism itself can cause mental illness... There are  chances of mental illness, miscarriage, preterm deliveries if hypothyroid state is not corrected.  So yes you have to check your thyroid hormone state and then plan for pregnancy.  Also thyroid check up has to be done on the newborn and early treatment started if needed. This improves the risk of the child developing mental illness.....
