General & Family Physician, Dr. P. Mahesh's Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM. Are you on regular alcoholic drinks? This could cause gastritis and sore throat. If you are not on regular alcohol drinks, other causes for this has to be considered such as eating spicy food, reflux oesophagitis, gastric ulcer, acidity etc. You should consult a gastroenterologist and get a gastro-duodenoscopy done to rule out any gastric, oesophageal or pharyngeal pathology. Wish you all the best
Gastritis means inflammation of Stomach: There will be abdominal pain, mainly at naval point, nausea, vomiting, sometimes vomiting of blood.
GERD is Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease causes abdominal pain starting from navel; the pain goes up to the chest and throat. You will see sour fluid coming into the mouth.
Regarding your case, stomach and throat means acid from stomach might be coming into the throat and casing stomach and throat pain
Hi well come to HCM.
Both could be of same origin in conditions like gastric reflux dis order. this acid
from stomach comes to oesophagus causing substernal pain as well and if very severe
can go right upto throat. It could be because of stress, anxiety, smoking, alcohol, tobacco
chewing, excess spicy food or junk food and sleep disturbances as well.So correct all
this if you have any and drug like PPI pentoprazole, rabiprazole with prokinetc drugs
like cisapride or domperidone can help in severe case you may add some antacid to it.
Thanks
