I awoke early a week ago to a strong chlorine smell which sometime later became a very strong toxic smell..so strong I hastily left my apartment. It was later determined that the HVAC circuit board had burned up. After doing some research, I determined that the strong chlorine smell is indicative of PCB'S which are 57% chlorine. I know exposure by inhaling these burning compounds are toxic and accumulative. I may have breathed in this toxic mix a couple of hours, as at first I tried going back to sleep not realizing the seriousness of it and being half asleep. I am wondering if my health has now been compromised and if there are any tests to indicate this. Or do I have to just live with the uncertainty. The circuit board has been replaced, but if I run the air conditioner, some of the smell remains. I have purchased two fans, one that draws in air from outdoors. Should I get the management to replace the whole HVAC system? I can taste the stuff in my mouth.
