I care for my 91 yr old mother. She broke out in shingles under the right clavicle down to her waist and around to her navel about 3 weeks ago. I caught it very early and Dr prescribed acyclovir 800mg 5. Times a day for 7 days. She has had severe pain. Another round of acyclovir was prescribed and she is half way through the second round. She has been taking extra strength Tylenol. 2 every 5 hrs and her pain is still severe there is no itching....have also used topical lidocaine. What additional can we do for her pain?
