I had a bicycle accident in late June resulting in road rash on my shoulder. It started getting infected in early August. I've seen a specialist a couple of times and she says she thinks there's something under the skin that will work its way out as I heal. I'm really trying not to scratch the itch but it sometimes gets really inflamed and red and almost drives me out of my mind and I just have to scratch. I've been using anti itch cream but it sometimes doesn't work. Sometimes red welts appear on the injury. What should I do?
