I Had A Monofocal Single Vision IOL For Distance Put

I had a monofocal single vision IOL for distance put in my right eye because of cataracts. My left eye is acceptable for reading at distance of 15 to 20 inches and is corrected with glasses for distance so I can see 20/20 with that eye. My right eye will need a reading glass prescription for close up vision and it might need a slight correction with the IOL for distance optimization. I do not have any problems with halos or starburst around lights at night so I think my left eye does not have a major cataract problem. I am currently wearing my old prescription distance glasses with the right lens removed since the IOL lens allows me to see distance and drive ok. I am not having any problem with depth perception. Now, on to my question. Can I only have one IOL lens in and not have the other eye IOL put in? I still will need glasses for the my eye that is not operated on, but sometimes glasses are needed even after cataract surgery and there are always risks with surgery. I can read left eye without glasses now. Is one eye surgery OK??
