I had ablation procedure 2 weeks ago. after resting for 1 week I resumed a medium cardio work out without incident during second week. (3 1/2 hr sessions w/heart rate up to 140 max). Yesterday I did some weight work, and after about 10 minutes on cardio machine i noticed that I was in afib. some metoprolol brought me into rhythm after about 1hour. I should note that 2 days ago I had 3-4 glasses red wine after a 6-month lay off from alcohol. Other than than I have felt fine, played golf twice in second week (walking course/carrying bag). I know that afib often occurs post op for some time.
My question is concerning effects of heavy exercise and alcohol post op. do they have an adverse effect on my otherwise smooth recovery?? thanks (i am 59yrs, male)
