I Have A Cough That I Have Had Since Early

I have a cough that I have had since early October. It sort of died off after an awful spell a couple of weeks ago. It starts off feeling like allergy like stuff with itchy nasal passage and throat, runny nose and dry cough. Then I start coughing. It is a hard cough and is more present when I am laughing or talking or get too hot. This happens to me twice a year usually and last about three month then goes away. This time i cannot shack it. i have done this i know since my teens. I have been told it is acid reflux, but see no change after days of taking meds and practically drinking tussin and other cough suppressants. I have been checked for asthma and placed on an inhaler in the past as well. Should I move on to a specialist and what kind? Also, have had antibiotics in the past six months. Could this be more heart or lung related?
