I Have A Diagnosis Of Fibromyalgia Made About 6 Years
I have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia made about 6 years ago. I was given 10 mg of oxycodone every 6 hours. Over the course of the next 4-5 years the dose of 10 mg every 6 hrs remarkably reduced my pain which was generally all over my body, but most severe in my neck and shoulders. Apparently, regulators have tightened scrutiny on GPs regarding chronic dosing of narcotics and I was referred to a local pain specialty practice. This doctor heard my diagnosis and earlier treatment plan and indicated he would just follow the prior plan. This solution was fine for me until a had an appointment with one of his associates, When I asked for a follow-on prescription of the oxycodone she wrote the script for the 10 mg tablet, but extended dosing interval to 8 hrs. The change in duration effectively reduced total dose from 40 mg to 30 mg per day and left me with three periods of pretty severe pain during 24 hours. I would like to be able to discuss the half-life metabolism of oxycodone in relation to effectiveness. with both of these doctors so that retional and effective treatment might continue. I have never had to ask for a dosage increase and never felt that I suffered from any of the ill effects of narcotic overdose.
