I have areas on my groins bilaterally and right axillary that become very edematous, erythematous and warm to touch. These areas also have purulent drainage and are very tender to palpation. When this occurs, I run a low grade temperature as well. I have completed 2 rounds of Bactrim which causes the areas to resolve but they recur. I also use Bactrim ointment and Hiblicens on the areas too. These episodes have been occurring on and off since June 2015. My family also has had episodes like this as well. Recent consultation with Primary MD office resulted in a referral to plastics for further evaluation of hydradentitis. I have looked at pictures of hydradentitis and it does not have any resemblance. Do you have any thoughts?
