I Have Been Taking Metformin In, 500 Mg In The

I have been taking metformin in, 500 mg in the morning and 500 mg in the evening for high insulin, levels but was only one point from normal. The doctor told me taking it would help me shed a few pounds. There has been no change in weight and the level was one point from normal at the last check. Can I just stop taking it or do I have to titratie off? I have been taking it for the last year.
