I have quite severe stiffness and pain in my outer thigh and hips after walking only a short distance and stiffness when standing up from sitting for a length of time. I am otherwise quite healthy but don't take a lot of regular taxing exercise although as a teacher i am active every day. I had an xray which did not find evidence of arthritis. I am 59, what is it and what can i do about it?
