I Have Scoliosis And Having An Operation In 2 Months, Any Advice
I have scoliosis and having an operation in 2 months any advice? I am really scared about my operations. My spine is in the shape of an 'S' instead of '|'. i was diagnosed with scoliosis 2 years ago and i have been wearing a brace ever since.
But 2 weeks ago i was told my curvitures have gone from 34 & 36 degrees to 51 & 50! i am booked into a private hospital and have to have 2 operations in 2 weeks. I am terrified, i have asked lots of questions to my consultant but i am still terrified!
i know that it is normal to be scared but i feel so sad about it and worried. I need advice, has anyone ever had it done?
Please answer me thanks x
Honey, I have scoliosis, too - I have what is called roto-scoliosis which not only looks like an "S" but it is curving from front to back as well. I didn't have the operation and now I feel like I'm way too old to do it. But I sure wish I had done it years ago. Having it done would have prevented the increase in my degree of curve and I wouldn't have the "roto" part as well.
Yes, it is normal to be scared when you are going to have surgery. But the doctors and nurses are going to take good care of you. When you are in pain, there will be medication to help ease it or eliminate it totally.
When you get released from the hospital, it's going to take a while to recuperate - your doctor has already told you all about this. You will probably have phsical therapy of some kind and you will learn all about this new stuff.
These operations are going to help you greatly. Right now, your organs are being smashed because of the curve in your spine and having that straightened out will be so much more comfortable for you.
Hang in there. Just remember that the doctors, nurses, and other staff in the hospital will take care of you and make sure you are okay. You just keep that little call light in your hand at all times. Have someone there in the hospital with you too if you can.
God bless you dear.
