I Have Some Small Lumps Building Up In The Lower Part Of My Neck, Kindly Suggest
I went to a hospital for check up because i have some small lumps building up in the lower part of my neck. Doctor said i have TB in the lymph node. Test (+) with FNA. Ultrasound tells i have 6 swelling lymph node. It enlarged about 4mm to 6mm each. Question is: 1.) Is surgery necessary to remove the swelling lymph node? 2.) I have not experienced any cough even before i am diagnosed with Lymphatic TB. Is this type of TB infection contagious?
If your tests are +ve for TB you should start AKT after consulting your doctor but at the earliest and for a full course as prescribed by him. you may not need to remove them surgically. They are not contagious
1. Surgery is not necessary. It will get cured with a 6 month course of anti-TB drugs.
2. Cough wont be present b'coz this is not a Lung TB or Larynx TB. Lymphatic TB doesn't involve the airways so u won't have Cough.
3. Since this is not Lung TB and hope so your sputum AFB smear is negative, there is no chance of spreading the infection.
