I Have Torn My Meniscus And Fractured My Knee Cap.

I have torn my meniscus and fractured my knee cap. A small portion broke off and is now floating around. My doctor is doing surgery to take out the piece that is broken off and repairing the meniscus. What should i expect after surgery? Can i climb stairs? how long should my rehab be? I have been told that i will be weight bearing, but not able to do anything strenuous. Should i expect to go to physical therapy or is normal activity enough and then get back to my gym, tennis in a couple weeks as the pain goes away?
