I injured my rib 2 months ago dancing. I believe the original injury was due to having a man double my size on top of me as I flipped him from the floor - damage to T8 and T9, right back/side of rib. I continued to dance ~16 hrs, thinking it was a weird strain, but the pain worsened to the point of wincing and dizziness. Complete inflammation of the stomach, night sweats for 2 nights, and slight naseua/loss of appetite. Also pain coughing/laughing/breathing for first week. A bony lump/divet appeared during the first week post injury and was present at the X-ray 1 week post injury, which revealed no fracture or abnormalities. Initial pain was best described as soreness/sensitivity, cramping, radiating, pulling/strain, compression, twisting sensation. Sensations lasted a good 3 weeks - massage, corrective exercise, and chiropractic were incorporated. Achyness is still present but no limited movement/range of motion. Still a bony protrusion, which seems to be the same as initially or slightly worse. The initial diagnosis from urgent care was a sprain - I visited a sports medicine family doc 2 weeks later (3 weeks post injury) and was given the loose diagnosis of costochondritis. I'm not sure whether to go in again, as I am curious what the cause of the bone abnormality is and if it will go away (I'm highly active and don't want to worsen the condition), but I also know rib injuries take a while to heal. The fact that no one seems to have seen this is concerning. Thank you in advance for your help!
