Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I injured the back of my ankle 1.5 weeks ago. There was a large open gash and swelling that turned to bruising after it went down. X-rays were done. No fractures. The gash was beginning to get infected so I was placed on oral antibiotics and used antibiotic ointment on the cut. However, now that most of the swelling is down and the cut seems to be healing pretty well, I am experiencing pain in my heal and a very unpleasant sensation behind my outer ankle bone (about 1-2 inches away from the cut) that almost feels like burning and it is sensitive even to the slightest touch. Sometimes, the pain comes in waves even when I'm not using the leg. Any suggestions as to what could cause this or the severity?
