I Just Had My Blood Pressure Checked During A Routine

I just had my blood pressure checked during a routine visit to my internist. It was 140 over 88. I am 65 years old. The lower number has been around 88 for three years now. He suggested I start taking Losartin 50mg. once a day to help lower my blood pressure. I am about twenty five pounds overweight ( I am five ft. eleven and weigh 220) and don't get much exercise. I am thinking I might prefer to try to start watching what I eat, lose some weight and get some exercise instead of relying on meds to lower my bp. Thoughts?
