I Just Started Taking Birth Control, And Started My Period

I just started taking birth control, and started my period today, and have been experiencing lower stomach pain and have been going to the bathroom a lot. I also keep getting cold chills. I don't feel well at all, and no matter how I sit or what I do, the pain does not go away.
