Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently had a ECHO done to check my mitral valve reguritation. The cardiologist I saw said my right ventricle was mildly enlarged at 2.5 cm and my RVSP was 37mmHg. He did not seen too concerned and told me to repeat ECHO in a year. Well I wanted a second opinion and went to another Cardiologist. She did another ECHO and said all was normal. She did not measure the RVSP and said it was not their standard to do that measurement because it is not accurate on an ECHO. When I got the report I was alarmed that my RVDd was 3.3cm. The report states right and left ventricle normal size and function. My question is how can those measurements be so different in one month. One doctor says 2.5cm is enlarged and another says 3.3cm in normal. Do they measure the same area of the right ventricle? What are the normal sizes? I am so confused. My most recent cardiologist said not to worry that my heart was healthy. I do have mild to moderate mitral regurgitation and trace tricuspid regurgitation. EF was 62%. Any advice would be great. THanks.
