Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently went to the doctor with sharp pain in my right side when I tried to take a deep or even normal breath. I couldn't get comfortable enough in any position to get a good nights sleep. Upon examination the doctor was 100% convinced it was a muscle pull and prescribed Naproxen Sodium and Cyclobenzaprine. He didn't feel an x-ray was needed but my wife insisted. We had no more than made it to the pharmacy when he called and informed me the x-ray showed some unexpected issues outlined below:
Impression: 1. Focal area of opacity in the right midlung, may represent pneumonia. Recommend follow-up in 6-8 weeks to ensure resolution. 2. Blunting of the right costophrenic angle, small effusion versus pleural scarring. This too could be reevaluated at time of follow-up. 3. Patchy left base atelectasis.
Indication: Pleuritic chest pain
I am years old, 5'11", 220 lbs. Smoker for 35 years. Wondering what your opinion of this is.
