Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take one 50 mg dose of Losartan per day for high blood pressure. I note a rash that won't go away. It might resemble shingles although does not have the streakiness I have heard about with shingles and it does not circumvent my body in the torso area - just in one place of about 2-3 inches in length and about 1/4 inch in depth - nasty and red - been around for about a month now - won't go away! The rash area is quite painful and it emits a puss. I was told that Losartan had zero side effects. I do not believe this to be true. On speaking with some friends, I learn that other people have similar problems to mine. This is the third BP medicine I have tried. They all seem to result in unpleasant side effects. Are they no blood pressure meds on the market that really do have ZERO side effects? I have tried Amdopoline - painful swelling of ankles. Lysinopril - nasty cough. Losartan was not supposed to have side effects. Is it the newest med on the market for Blood pressure so now the side effects are starting to show up? What else has better results?
